there's a clear light waiting for you.
and here's all you really gotta do.
if you wanna see yourself in the clear light,
you gotta be there.
romance isn't where its at.
love will only leave you flat.
dreams and schemes and imagery
can all be your reality.
'cause you can shine, sister, shine.
it's your time, sister, time.
if you wanna see yourself in the clear light,
you gotta be there.
actualize your wildest dreams.
you can really touch moonbeams.
any light you're headed for
is waiting for you out your door.
'cause you can shine, sister, shine.
it's your time, sister, time.
if you wanna see yourself in the clear light,
you gotta be there.
i'm talkin' now about your soul.
i'm talkin' now 'bout 'bein whole.
express yourself, expose it all,
don't ever be afraid to fall.
'cause you can shine, sister, shine.
it's your time, sister, time.
if you wanna see yourself in the clear light,
you gotta be there.

Since encountering Gene's solo work (admittedly very late) in 2019, this and Out Of The Blue have been listening mainstays. Gene brings a remarkable lyricism and clarity to his performances. "She Wore The Red Shoes" has rapidly become one of my favourite pieces of music: hypnotic, alluring and very, very beautiful. Tristan Louth-Robins
